About Me

Credentials, Connection, and Calling

I bring a rare combination of professional training, lived experience, and systems-level insight to every client and family I work with. My foundation in this field is grounded in both academic rigor and real-world application: I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Massachusetts, studied psychology at Brown University, and conducted neuroscience research at Harvard Medical School for three years. I later served as a case manager at Granada House, a publicly funded halfway house, where I worked directly with clients navigating the early stages of recovery. Throughout these experiences, I’ve built close working relationships with many of Boston’s top prescribers, sober homes, and therapeutic programs.

But what truly sets this work apart is not the resume—it’s the resonance. I’ve walked this path myself. I know what it’s like to face a medical leave, to live in sober homes, and to rebuild structure from the ground up. I’ve supported friends and families through similar transitions—not as a consultant, but as a steady, trusted presence. That lived experience drives the mission of Ember and Ash Recovery.

“I’ve found my calling in this work. It means the world to me to create something meaningful from the darkest parts of my life. I help families avoid the pain I lived, and that purpose drives everything I do.”

Client Reflections

Don’t just take it from me.
Because discretion is key in this work, you won’t see full names or photos here—but the impact is real. These are the voices of clients, families, and colleagues who’ve experienced what Ember and Ash Recovery offers firsthand.

J.M.
Parent of a young adult

“Socrates provided the structure and emotional steadiness our son needed after leaving treatment. His presence gave us peace of mind in a way no program ever had.”

A.R.
Client in long-term recovery

“I’ve worked with many coaches over the years, but none have been as deeply compassionate or as clear-eyed as Soc. He helped me find hope at a time when I felt completely lost.”

M.L.
Mother of a client with co-occurring diagnoses

“What made Ember and Ash different was the consistency and care. Socrates wasn’t just a support—he became a trusted part of our recovery process as a family.”

K.T.
Client in Early Recovery

“When I met Soc, I didn’t trust anyone. He didn’t try to fix me or force anything—he just showed up, again and again. That consistency helped me start trusting people again, including myself.”

J.S.
Psychiatrist

“I’ve referred families to Socrates when the traditional treatment path hasn’t been enough. His ability to meet clients where they are—without judgment or ego—makes him uniquely effective. He’s someone I trust implicitly.”

K.Z.
Sister of Client

“It’s hard to explain how isolating it is to watch someone you love struggle for so long. Socrates didn’t just support my brother—he helped us reconnect as a family. I don’t think we could’ve done that without him.”
